Soundwise, I'm happy with the quality of this 2010 RE 532 456-3. Highly recommended! Finally the sound of my youth on vinyl! I first got this on cassette tape way back 1989 when I was just 13 years old during those days–most of my friends were listening to hair-metal G'n'R & Metallica. I felt strange about myself feeling alone liking this music so much. This is how it means or resonates to me track by track: the majestic "Plainsong" sounds like a perfect wrecked-after-the-war-however-victorious soundtrack; "Closedown" picking up the pieces; "Love Song" strangely kind of out-of-place for this album yet it works; "Last Dance" is cinematic bittersweet romance; "Lullaby" darkest catchy pop tune ever!; "Fascination Street" for some strange reason gives me that "Alphabet City" vibe. "Prayers For Rain" like a non linear storyteller's technique of placing this track in the midst of this album–backward-relates well to "Closedown" to "Plainsong"; "Same Deep Water As You" is like a further dark & cold version of "Last Dance"; the epic "Disintegration" is the process where "Plainsong" emerged; "Homesick" being lost in nostalgia; "Untitled" a perfect closing track that seems to ease and wash away all the dread and gloom by embracing it as part of life; and strangely it sounds a bit a happy and satisfy to me. I have never forgotten about "Pictures of You" though it was a hit and of a good song, I felt a bit strange that this must be my least fave track in this album. To me it is a perfect single and could be a nice song to be further articulated with more supporting songs into another great album. Though it's not perfect, this is my fave Cure album of all time.

My GZ Media Pressing sounds excellent and was not dirty from the factory.

Uleran
Aha! So that’s what this album ‘should’ sound like! I’d always felt a bit underwhelmed by the original UK press (and I have several copies) in terms of balance and sonics. I have only just opened my copy of this 2010 repress (after reading through these reviews). I was lucky. Vinyl is immaculate, no marks, warps or defects. Play back is incredible, a few pops but that’s all. I’m playing it very loud (no neighbours!) and it’s absolutely majestic. Worth it for the intro to Prayers for Rain alone which I’ve replayed quite a few times now. Mine has GZ in the dead wax for reference. It seems a bit of a gamble on this press but if you get lucky with the pressing you won’t be disappointed!

Goltigor
After I opened my sealed copy I was a bit disappointed. It was dirty!! but after a clean it sounds great. No warps, no clicks, no pops no surface noise. Really nice pressing

Zacki
This is a great sounding record and pressing, 2010. A must for any Cure fan.

Jaiarton
For the version pressed by MPO i created a new release here The Cure - Disintegration

Kirizan
Surprised by all these negative comments on this one. My copy of this is one of the best sounding records I have in my collection. Fantastic clarity & dynamics, plays perfectly on my Debut Carbon but can also say this played perfectly on a lower quality player (TEAC MC-D800).

Fonceiah
Yep MPO runouts here, great news! I thought the GZ pressing was filthy, marked and had a lot of surface noise. Really enjoying this new pressing done right!

Uthergo
Does someone else has a pressing of this remaster with different runouts? My copy has written mpo in the runouts..

Fecage
I have it too, MPO indeed, very quiet pressing. I think it was released at the end of August 2016. Not 100% sure.

Preve
If it says "MPO" in the deadwax, and looks and feels like an MPO pressing (three concentric pressing rings in the label area), then I could only assume that would be a different pressing of the remaster altogether. It doesn't appear to be on Discogs, so submit it!

Wrathshaper
Very disappointing sound quality. Too compressed, very undefined. Quite comparable to the sound quality of the Entreat Plus US release.

Funny duck
That's what you get from a digital remaster...loss of dynamics

romrom
Although the pressing plant seems at best amateuristic (I had to return the first copy I bought because one record was missing, do not buy this sealed!), I do not recognise this as just an analogue WAV-file. Sound is fine, and gives me the sensation I had when I was younger. Indeed, there was a lot of noise and even skips on the record, but a run on the good ol' Okki Nokki solved that problem. So it seems the biggest problem is a dirty pressing procedure.

FEISKO
When I pulled each of the discs out of their sleeves, there was a white residue or powder across sides B and D. It is easily cleaned using a gentle vinyl brush. Overall the sound is pretty good, nothing revelatory, but I'm glad I got a copy.

Haal
Sounds damn fine to me. Side D was a little noisy, but not too much, and other than that it sounds fantastic. All frequencies coming through very clearly. One of my all time favourite albums, and I am satisfied with my copy.

Low_Skill_But_Happy_Deagle
Yep ive certainly heard a lot worse...pressing could be a little quieter.

Mullador
I agree mostly with Hailtome, the sound is OK, nothing special but definitely listenable. My copy isn't noisy.

Punind
i have the original lp and this new remaster so i made some tests. I don't hear what everyone is talking about here. The sound is panoramic and powerful. Voices are pretty clear, low frequencies (gallup's guitar bass) really present. "Digital remaster" isn't a pejorative term, look at movies, photographs, musics...what isn't made via computer process ?The most imporant thing is that this remaster was made from the original tapes.

Kefym
It is not a problem in theory. Depends on how they use the masters in the process of throwing it through a digital chain. Yeah doesn't have to be pejorative, but it can be synonymous to this in some cases to overkill or bad remastering.

Brannylv
You dont have to be an audiophile nazi to dislike record companies ripping off vinyl buyers by using digital files.

Wal
I agree, I'm listening to it as I'm writing this. Sound is crisp and satisfying to my ears. Then again I'm not an audiophile nazi, but it should satisfy anybody who wants the complete 'Desintegration' LP.I did notice some significant crackling at the beginning and end of each side (blanks), but not DURING the songs, so no problem here for me. Quiet bits in the songs are perfectly clean. Also I think 2 of the previous comments are from the same dude, and his comments seem really out of proportion (judging from my copy).

Grosho
Overall OK, not great. Sounds a bit too compressed and digital like posted by other reviewers. Sonic-wise its still OK though. The pressing is pretty noisy, lots of crackling even after washing. I have yet to form an opinion about the czech pressing plant gzvinyl, this is the first LP I bought that was pressed there. But this surely isn't a good start.

Xanna
What a bummer to find that IT'S A WORTHLESS ANALOG COPY OF A DIGITAL WAV.Pointless, useless... So we never really get to hear what the complete album actually sounded like, cassette anyone? WEAK LP sounds digital, why would anyone want that. All the overtones are gone and it sounds flat and digital... Why not just re-release as an Mp3 only and get it over with?

Ghordana
There are tons of 1st pressings available ;) I usually see them sell for around $10 in record stores around these parts .

JoldGold
Worthless, waited years to have a complete copy of 'Disintegration' and Robert RUINS IT, A ANALOG COPY OF A DIGITAL WAV IS WORTHLESS... WORTHLESS, WORTHLESS...
