It was inspired by the 1979 Soviet film of the same name, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. The cover image is a photograph by landscape photographer Brad Cole. It is a work from 1988 titled Remnants of Resonance 2. Hearts of Space Records Album Page. Eurotechno refers to the musical soundtrack by English group Stakker for their 1989 experimental short film of the same name. The original film was an avant-garde experiment in the audiovisual videola genre and features rapidly shifting colourful computer graphics, reflecting the influence of rave culture. Although the visuals of the film were primarily the work of Stakker members Marek Pytel, Mark McClean and Colin Scott, the musical soundtrack was largely the work of Brian Dougans, later of The. A curious, very much of-its-time release that still has a certain thrill to it, Eurotechno wasn't a single or album per se initially - instead, it's the soundtrack to a videotape of various state-of-the-art end-of-the-'80s computer special effects designed for rave projections. Or, more than likely, home viewing of the same by those who wanted to get in on the action without actually having to leave the house. Eurodance-Eurotechno '90s, Ierapetra. Stakker's classic soundtrack for EUROTECHNO gets a re-release on Rephlex. Originally released as the musical accompaniment to some computer graphics (a forefather to the "Beyond the Mind's Eye" series), the music veers from one mood to the next, joined together by analog blippery. As an example of proto-acid techno, the music is groundbreaking; the sound itself, however, comes through a little tinny at the start. As well, the main melodic sections (some barely 30 seconds long) sound under-recorded compared to the test tone interludes. But with so many musical ideas running through this album (from the sustained tones on "Part 7" to the ethnic sampling on "Part 14," I wonder how much of the sound was intentional, and how much was simply a mastering issue.
