Genius Soul Jazz - Ray Charles. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Genius Soul Jazz is a 1961 album by Ray Charles featuring big band arrangements by Quincy Jones and Ralph Burns. Charles is accompanied by two groups drawn from members of The Count Basie Band and from the ranks of top New York session players. It was recorded at the Rudy Van Gelder Studio in two sessions on December 26 and 27, 1960 and originally released on the Impulse label as Impulse A2. Genius Soul finds Charles playing Hammond organ with the Count Basie band, running through some Quincy Jones arrangements of standards like One Mint Julep. My Kind of Jazz is a totally different experience, functioning as his stab at funky soul-jazz. Genius Soul is a better, more consistent record than My Kind of Jazz, but the latter is quite entertaining in its own right, and by presenting the two albums together, this disc illustrates the depth and breadth of Charles' talent. GeniusSoul Jazz itself is an acclaimed classic, one of the great albums in the Ray Charles catalogue. With Ray's organ front and center, Charles reinforces the gospel connection both to soul and jazz, gospel being the key influence in the style of jazz that came about around the same time as Charles' soul music, the hard bop of the mid-1950s. The 1997 Rhino reissue pairs this album with another big-band instrumental album by Charles, My Kind of Jazz from 1970. Genius Soul Jazz. Ray Charles. Released 1961. Genius Soul Jazz Tracklist.
