Any help welcome, this one has my head pickled. I'm trying to place a copy of this but cannot find a perfect match, it's got all the label markings of a first press;1. Executive Producer: Peter Grant2. ‘2401002’ catalogue number has no gaps or hyphens3. Central white band is parallel4. Publishing credits ‘Warner Bros. Music Ltd’5. Hi im wondering jf anyone can help me value my copy of led111 mine is the super deluxe version with no peter grant credit on plum and maroon but with the credit for celebration on the label how rare is it and what price am i looking at

Better than Led Zeppelin IV. This is a great album to spin while chilling on the front porch or hanging out. My favorites are Friends and Hats off to Roy Harper.

Coming from an Italian and the Classic Records to this was not as gratifying of an experience as I wanted. I was hoping it to incorporate the best of both worlds and while it might take strides that way it doesnt reach it for me. Its very similar to the Italian and other early releases of the time with a direct and punchy sound. It also does lay more focus on the mid range encapsulating vocals in a more in your face manner but does not reach the clarity of the Classic. Stereo imaging, instrumental separation, dynamics and overall detail is appreciated better on the Classic and while it is not as punchy as the UK or Italian it still envokes more presence and realism that way. Early attempts at the album seem to excude similar qualities and are probably great for those enjoying a more rock and roll style sound not worried to much about the intent listening experience. Yet the UK inherets less bass compared to both the others which is a big blow for me. I also experience the sound to be slightly more brittle like compared to the Classic or even Italian that I remember. I just cant recommend it at the prices you typically find.Current Ranking:1. My island album, the one I would want. Such a diverse album with incredible musicianship. As a bonus I could play with the spinning wheel for hours.

We have several copies of this LP with the red/purple label (not Peter Grant credit) which came with the West Germany rotating cover. I suppose that there was a shortage at some point so they shipped in these sleeves to meet demand

Flash_back
Hi I’ve picked up a uk pressing on the red/ purple label and the cover is the spinning cover made in Germany. I think this is the one you speak of? Is it rare? And where does it say peter grant?

Tygokasa
I just got an early US pressing off eBay and I was looking at the cover and noticed that two of the holes that reveal the spinning wheel are not punched through. Is this anything special? I've never heard anything about it and can't find anything about it elsewhere on the Internet.

Hi all, I'm trying to catalogue My collection and would be grateful for any assistance. I have a copy of LZ III that appears to be a first press as listed here (Peter Grant credit etc.) but has an A7 matrix no. Any ideas? Thanks.

My copy of Led Zeppelin III is a mint condition 2401002 A-5 with inscriptions and the original 'spin for fun' cover. I'm trying to value it for insurance. Does anyone know what it's actually worth? I paid ten pounds for it...

Just bought a UK plum A7/B5. Apparently this is a 2nd pressing? Im reading online these A7's have the Peter Grant credit which I thought was only on 1st pressings? How does the A7 cut compare to the A5/B5 which is supposed to be the best sound quality?

Mejora
Posting a comment, would be interested to know as well. But if the mastering is the same for both I assume the earlier is best as usual. I hear some say the Canadian red label is the best as well though.

Wondering if you ever got an answer in regards to your question.... just acquired an A7/B5 myself and have the same questions you did.

Hello. I have a very odd chinese copy of Zep III. It's got a very floppy cover with the code PRC-5072 a blue label and misspell, LET Zeppelin. I've seen others in bad condition at auctions since researching but I don't know much more about it. It's in real nice shape, can anyone tell me more about it? Thanks

Hi. My copy of Led Zeppelin III is the "deluxe" one, K50002, which is stated on Atlantic K50002 white sticker with red text in the gatefold. It has "do what thou wilt" inscribed into the side one run out, and the 2nd pressing number of K5002 also. Side two has no "so mote it be" but has both the first pressing number AND the 2nd pressing number in the run out.

I have a Canadian pressing of some sort that isn't listed here...spine is SD 19128, but says "Manufactured by Columbia House, a division of CBS Records..." (as opposed to all the WEA stuff I see here. Can any fellow canucks give me a hand?

Ghordana
Columbia Record Club copy, probably. I've never seen any of these releases but I know of others.
