Hey Bulldog Fanny's second album, 1971's Charity Ball, was a solid and imaginative set whose title track became a minor hit single, their third album, 1972's Fanny Hill, truly caught them at the peak of their strength. Produced by Richard Perry at London's Abbey Road Studio, with Geoff Emerick as engineer who worked on several of the Beatles' best recordings, Fanny Hill is the group's hardest-rocking set, full of June Millington's big, raunchy guitar figures facing off with Nickey Barclay's rollicking keyboards, the smart but muscular rhythm section of Alice. Fanny is the debut album by the American rock group Fanny, released in 1970. In 1969, the rock band Wild Honey, featuring Jean and June Millington with Alice de Buhr were spotted by producer Richard Perry's secretary. Perry arranged a trial session at Wally Heider Studios and concluded This is a band that needs to be recorded. Fanny Hill features a wide range of song styles from rockers to ballads, plus its lyrical content touched on topics that would not become center stage in the world for decades to follow. The single Aint That Peculiar would chart at 85 on Billboards Hot 100 and the album would chart at 135th fo. Extra Tracks. Fanny Format: Audio CD. Please retry. And the result was Fanny s most varied and ambitious album, sporting a beautiful mix of ballads and rockers and a mature, socially conscious lyrical approach. Not coincidentally, it s long been the most-requested reissue in the Fanny catalog, and we re adding six bonus tracks to the original release along with new liner notes from the band and rare photos. Fanny Hill is ranked 17,702nd in the overall chart, 2,362nd in the 1970s, and 241st in the year 1972
