Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup consisting of bassistvocalist Jack Bruce, guitaristvocalist Eric Clapton, and. Cream's version is a compilation of parts of two Johnson songs: Crossroads Blues and Traveling Riverside Blues. Inside the gatefold of the 2-disk LP Wheels Of Fire, the song listings for Sides 3 including Crossroads and 4 are misleadingly subheaded, Live at the Fillmore. Same with Disk 2 of the 2-CD versions. Crossroads was recorded at the Winterland Ballroom, also in San Francisco. Crossroads is a 1988 music collection box set of the work of Eric Clapton released by Polydor Records. The set includes his work with the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Blues Breakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends and Derek and the Dominos, as well as his solo career. Several live or alternate studio recordings were previously unreleased. Anthony DeCurtis contributed the liner notes to the album, and The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood painted the album's cover. Mitchell Kanner. On Cream's first two studio albums, Fresh Cream and Disraeli Gears, the trio was all about studio-bred brevity. It wasn't until 1968's Wheels of Fire, a double LP, that the group began to stretch out. Now mind you, it isn't a perfect album. The more flowery offerings, such as Passing the Time and As You Said, haven't aged all that well. It's the live material found on the second disc that really stands out. Toad and Spoonful, both of which break the 15-minute mark, are powerful jams that prove why Cream exerted such. Hear Creams Previously Unreleased Version of Crossroads From 1968 Farewell Tour. Track appears on upcoming box set Goodbye Tour Live 1968, which features 29 previously unreleased songs. Just one month before Cream wrapped up their original run with a historic show at Londons Royal Albert Hall on November 26th 1968, they performed at the International Sports Arena in San Diego.
